Medical Malpractice
For more than 4 decades, we’ve been committed to making a difference in the lives of our clients who have been harmed by medical malpractice. While not every bad medical outcome is caused by malpractice, we have the experience, personnel, and resources to determine those that are. It is because of our experience, our successes, and our dedication to serving our clients, that Koskoff is widely respected as a leading medical malpractice firm throughout Connecticut.
If you or a family member has been seriously harmed because of a doctor’s mistake or by the negligence of a hospital or other health care provider, contact us to arrange a free initial consultation.
Our Approach
Once a suit is instituted, we have a team of experienced, professional trial lawyers who will work collaboratively to prove your claim. Read about our process for preparing medical malpractice claims:
Investigation
Medical malpractice claims are first reviewed by our medical malpractice investigation team, including attorneys, an attorney/doctor, and the collective input gained at team meeting presentations. Assisted by 4 nurse-paralegals, an extensive medical library, online support, and unique in-house databases of nationally known medical consultants, the team is fully equipped to review and investigate even the most complex medical cases.
Preparation
When medical malpractice is detected, the case is turned over to an experienced trial team – many of us devote our time exclusively to handling medical malpractice cases. Proper preparation of these cases is the key. Malpractice cases are so complex that they require personnel to remain current on developments in both law and medicine. Team conferences, review of medical journals, and consultations with medical authorities occur on an ongoing basis to accomplish this goal. This team travels throughout the United States and beyond to find the best possible experts to prove our clients’ claims. The testimony of these experts is generally taken before trial and often leads to favorable settlements for our clients.
Trial
Considering the possibility that a favorable settlement cannot be reached, each case is fully prepared for trial from the outset. Koskoff attorneys have set compensation records for our clients in medical malpractice cases in Connecticut. In fact, the firm’s $58.3 million malpractice verdict for the parents of a boy born with cerebral palsy is the largest jury verdict ever achieved in the state.
“I am truly impressed in your abilities as an attorney but also with the compassion you have shown me as a client.”
