Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless and highly toxic gas, a dangerous by-product of burning organic material.

Carbon Monoxide Fatality Statistics

Unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning accounts for an estimated 15,000 emergency room visits and 500 unintentional deaths in the United States each year, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

More than 100 of those deaths are caused by carbon monoxide generated by case against a product manufacturer, including furnaces, ranges, water heaters, room heaters, and vehicles, according to the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission.

The attorneys at Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder, PC, have represented clients in a wide variety of cases involving carbon monoxide poisoning that resulted in permanent brain injury or death.

One case involved a group of workers who died after being sent down a man hole into an area where the deadly gas was lurking. Another involved fatalities due to carbon monoxide generated by a boat’s engine.
