Litigation Attorney

We are looking for an attorney with 8-15 years of trial work experience. It is anticipated that the candidate will handle medical malpractice and/or personal injury cases. The right candidate is passionate about social justice and is personable, organized, responsible and can professionally handle a significant case load. The firm culture is one of collegiality and cooperation with involvement in local, state and national trial organizations. The candidate should have proven trial skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a caseload of 15-30 cases and clients
  • Prepare cases for trial including working with experts, hearings, depositions, mediations and other case-related meetings
  • Serve as lead trial lawyer in court proceedings including trials
  • Review and supervise the preparations of pleadings, discovery, motions, court orders, demand packages, and other case-related documents
  • Maintain information in our case management database
  • Primary point of communication for clients, witnesses, attorneys, courts, insurance adjusters, medical providers, expert witnesses, and consultants
  • Participate in weekly lawyer meeting to discuss/brainstorm your cases and cases of others


  • Prior trial experience is essential
  • Prior experience with medical malpractice cases is important but not essential
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be friendly, collegial and outgoing while highly motivated and ambitious
  • Impeccable references on past work, including jury trials to conclusion
  • Must live in or be willing to relocate to CT
  • Must be a Licensed Attorney in good standing and eligible to be admitted into the Connecticut State Bar

Nurse Paralegal/Legal Nurse Consultant

General purpose of this position: This position is the primary point of contact for all medical malpractice intakes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Gather initial contact information - extensive phone work involved
  • Interview clients on phone or in person to obtain detailed description of medical experience
  • Determine which medical records need to be obtained
  • Organize medical records
  • Review/evaluate medical records and prepare timeline of treatment plan for illness/injury
  • Evaluate standard of care, causation, damages
  • Conference with Partner on medical/legal issues
  • Research/identify medical consultants (experts) needed for review of case
  • Prepare case for medical consultant review
  • Discuss details of case with medical consultants
  • Draft Physician's Opinion Letter
  • Prepare case for drawing of complaint
  • Communicate with clients over acceptance or denial of case and draft rejection letters providing extensive detail on case evaluation
  • Provide on-going communication updates with both clients and referring attorneys

Skill Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with a minimum of 5 years patient care in a hospital
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good listening/empathy/compassion
  • Legal experience/paralegal certification a plus

  • Be technologically knowledgeable

  • Have a good work ethic and willingness to work extra hours as needed


  • College graduate and/or paralegal certification
  • Outstanding technical skills (Excel, Powerpoint, Data Base Management, MS Office & Word, Needles, etc.)
  • Legal research skills, including Lexis and/or Westlaw
  • Prior law firm experience is a plus but not mandatory
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, professional, team player
  • Shows initiative and does not believe that any job is too big or too small

Summer Intern

Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder, one of the nation's premier trial law firms, is currently looking for a few hard working, bright and energetic 1L and 2L students to join our 2020 Summer Internship Program. Our internships provide the opportunity for budding law professionals to gain hands on work experience conducting legal research and writing briefs as well as shadowing our experienced attorneys in depositions, court trials and hearings.

The summer program offers paid internship opportunities in our Bridgeport, CT location from May - August 2020. The internship program is a combination of mentoring, learning activities and project work designed to give exposure to the inner workings of a very busy trial law firm. The nature of the assignments will vary, allowing opportunity to exercise customization and creativity, while providing a practical and challenging experience.
