The Joint Commission which is an organization that evaluates hospitals has issued its second annual report of hospital performance. Connecticut is one of only three states nationally without a single hospital designated as a “Top Performer.” The other two states are North Dakota and South Dakota.

the Commission’s report includes 620 hospitals in 47 states that it says are “leading the way nationally in using evidence-based care processes closely linked to positive patient outcomes.”
Even though the number of hospitals included in this year’s report increased by more than 50% from last year, none were in Connecticut. In fact, the one hospital that was recognized last year, Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT, did not even make the cut this year.
Connecticut deserves better!
