Joel Lichtenstein has devoted his entire legal career to handling medical malpractice cases. To date, he has reviewed more than 25,000 medical malpractice files.

For more than 25 years Joel has lead KK&B's medical malpractice investigation team. Annually he confers with new medical malpractice clients, reviews tens of thousands of pages of hospital and medical records, and consults with medical experts throughout the United States and several foreign countries. Joel is well known for his medical knowledge and his ability to analyze complex medical problems and malpractice cases.

In the book, Damages, author Barry Werth says, "Lichtenstein had … a psychiatrist's empathy, a banker's perspicacity, a doctor's concern…"

Joel has been a contributor to the President's Commission on medical malpractice and a consultant to the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare concerning medical malpractice. Prior to joining Koskoff, Koskoff and Bieder, he served for seven years as Vice President of a New York insurance company, in charge of medical malpractice litigation.

Joel is a member of the American Association for Justice and currently serves as co-chair of the Association's Medical Negligence Information Exchange Group and is an examiner for the National Board of Trial Advocacy on questions concerning medical malpractice. He has served as a member and former chair of ATLA's Birth Trauma Litigation Group and has served as chair of its Professional Negligence Section.

Joel Lichtenstein is a frequent lecturer to trial lawyer groups on issues relating to the investigation and detection of medical malpractice. He has also lectured to hospital and medical societies concerning liability issues.
