BRIDGEPORT — Atty. Michael P. Koskoff has been named a Fellow of an international honor society of outstanding trial lawyers – the second attorney selected from the law firm of Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder.

Koskoff was selected by a committee of his peers and was inducted in March into The International Society of Barristers. New members are selected based on “excellence as a lawyer and integrity in advocacy,” said John W. Reed, administrative secretary of the Society and faculty emeritus at the University of Michigan Law School.

Atty. Richard Bieder, also of Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder, was previously named a Fellow in the organization.

Created in 1965, the Society arose out of a “desire to bring together the best of the trial bar in a setting devoid of partisan interests, where the emphasis would be on warm fellowship without regard to their orientations as plaintiffs' or defendants' or insurers' advocates,” Reed said.

The Society, headquartered at the University of Michigan Law School, has members from through the United States, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Australia, Canada, England, Scotland, and Mexico.

The organization “seeks to preserve trial by jury, the adversary system, and independence of the judiciary,” Reed said

“Michael Koskoff clearly meets the criteria for the honor of membership and we are very pleased to have him as a part of organization,” Reed said.

Koskoff, Connecticut's only member of The Inner Circle of Advocates, an organization limited to the top 100 trial lawyers in the nation, is widely known for his courtroom litigation experience.

Koskoff, a frequent lecturer to trial lawyer groups throughout the nation, appears on numerous audiotapes and has published several articles about trial technique. He has served on the faculty of programs for The Association of Trial Lawyers America, National College of Advocacy, Connecticut Trial lawyers Association and other bar associations. He has served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Quinnipiac College School of Law and, for many years, was appointed by the United States District Court in Connecticut as co-chair of the Special Masters Program.

Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder, nationally known for commercial litigation, class actions and medical malpractice, has achieved some of the largest jury awards in Connecticut history. The firm specializes in helping people who suffer serious personal injury or economic harm from medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability and class actions.

Attorneys from KK&B have been responsible for important changes in the conduct of corporate and governmental defendants in addition to recovering substantial compensation for seriously injured individuals. The firm has offices in Bridgeport, Danbury, New Haven and Stamford.
