Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder attorney Kathleen Nastri has settled a case with Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, after alleging that they failed to properly diagnose and treat an infection, which resulted in the death of a Connecticut woman.
As a result of the negligence of Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and its satellite facility, the Pequot Health Center in Groton, the woman suffered severe, serious, painful and permanent injuries, including hypotension, tachycardia, severe dehydration, acute renal failure, sepsis, septic shock, and multisystem organ failure, all leading to her death on December 10, 2003.
In a complaint filed in the Superior Court in New London, the plaintiff alleged that the staff at the Pequot Health Center had delayed treatment for an infection, failed to take an accurate medical history, failed to prescribe antibiotics, failed to make a proper diagnosis, improperly discharged the patient, and failed to consult a supervising physician.
The parties attended a mediation and reached a confidential settlement for this wrongful death case.
