Police Abuse

You have a right to be treated lawfully in all of your interactions with the police. Yet rights mean nothing unless they are asserted and exercised.

The attorneys at Koskoff Koskoff & Bieder PC, will exercise your rights. We stand up for victims of police misconduct and abuse that results in serious injury or wrongful death. We represent victims of many types of police abuse, including instances of:

  • False arrests and false charges
  • Excessive force
  • High-speed chases that injure bystanders
  • Illegal search of a person, home or vehicle
  • Abusive or unlawful detention
  • Inappropriate use of deadly force
  • Failure to provide necessary medical attention

We won a case against the New Milford Police Department that involved the fatal shooting of a young black man in 1998. Police shot him in the back of the head while he was on the ground. These events led to the first time in state history that a Connecticut police department had been charged with homicide.

Another case involved eight New Haven police officers and state troopers who stopped our client’s vehicle. The officers pulled our client out of the car, cuffed him and then sicced a police attack dog on him.

No one benefits when police are allowed to play fast and loose with the law. We aggressively pursue these cases in order to compensate the victims of wrongdoing and to help preserve the rights of all citizens.

If you or a family member was injured because of police abuse or “cop brutality,” please contact our law firm as soon as possible to arrange a free consultation and case evaluation. Our civil rights lawyers represent clients throughout Connecticut and across the nation.
